What is Buhurt?
Historical Medieval Battles (HMB) or Buhurt (from Old French béhourd: “wallop”) or Armored Combat is a modern full contact fighting sport with steel blunt weapons characteristic for the Middle Ages.[2] Armour and weapons have to follow regulations on historical authenticity and safety.
Fighters are covered in full modern produced protective armour, made from steel (or other metal alloy if permitted) made to aesthetically be as close to their historical counterparts as possible. Hits and blows may be aimed at any parts of the body (with the limitations set in the regulations); both wrestling and percussive techniques are permitted.
There is a growing interest in Buhurt in the United States. One such organization, Armored Combat League (which split in 2019, creating Armored Combat Worldwide and Armored Combat Sports) was featured in a series called Knight Fight on History Channel.

YES, the weapons are made from real steel but blunted at 2mm so the edges are not sharp.

Is this sport dangerous?
Yes, although most injuries are not immobilizing. When you are fighting 1v1 there is not alot of injury because armor works really well when you are facing your opponent.
3v3 buhurt team rounds will have more potential injuries when your back is turned and you get blind sighted.
How much money do I need to get started ?
SUPPORT: You don’t need any money to get started if you sign up to help with gigs as fighter support. We will pay you and start a fund to buy your helm, gauntlets, and gambeson first.
FIGHTERS: You will get paid to fight at each gig but you will need armor that passes our quality standards.
BOOKING GIGS: Gig prices vary depending on many factors. Please call today for a free quote for your next corporate event, festival, or gathering.
Do we need health insurance?
When you sign up and pay the membership and/or league fees you are qualified for health insurance only at official events and gigs booked through our online system.
Do I need martial arts experience?
No but martial arts is a big aspect of grappling in this sport and fighters with martial arts background usually succeed.
If nobody is near me how can I get started ?
When 1 person signs up and nobody is near them we start helping you right away by providing a conditioning program and promoting gigs for you in your area.
When I book a gig, what size fighting area do you need ?
When fighting 1v1 the smallest we prefer is a 12’x12′ but we can fight almost anywhere.
